...This is an older painting/video I found on my hard drive dated Oct. 2007... Obviously, I did it with intentions of posting it for Halloween of that year... Must've forgot. Probably a phone call came in on a deadline or something, diverted me completely away from it. So here it is... About 54 minutes to do it.

Photoshop CS, Wacom Intuos 3, etc....

  • I was wondering, what is that step you take greying out the picture then adding the details and colouring the layer underneath. Was that a low opacity layer? It didn't look like the paintbucket.

Can you please tell me how that is done? Unless of course its trade secret then I totally understand and respect.

  • @TempestKiro I believe you are talking about when I selected the outside, hit select "inverse" then either colored the selection with my brush in color mode, or filled a layer underneath (edit>fill) and merged together.

  • @cgsbgs One last question (sorry for being a pain)... How do you just select the outside?

    I was just trying all the steps you just told me and realised I didn't even know how to do that one basic step TT;

  • @TempestKiro ...In the layer where your line drawing is, select outside of it with the wand. (make sure your lines are all closed, or the selection will leak inside.

  • From one commercial illustrator to another : great work.

How many layers do you end up with ?

  • @MrMuchoNice Thanks! I usually try to stay around 2 layers (foregd and bckgd) then flatten in the end.

  • 1:30, I would've stopped and felt pro.

  • But what if you stop for a few minutes to contemplate what to do next in the picture? surely that would create a big gap in the recording where nothing happens? Do you edit it out or do you just constantly go?

  • If youtube let me do what DA does with its emoticons. i wouldn't have type this long comment. it will be more like this:

    0_0 I I \/ <----suppose to be a jaw drop

  • This is really talented

  • amazing detail, very nice =] may i ask how long you have been doing digital art?

  • @cgsbgs if i may ask, at 0:38 your drawing turns all grey without using any selecting tools (im new to photoshop) how did you do that?

  • It's been years since I passed by. Impressive work as always, cgsbgs. But If I may say... the cat's teeth kind of bugs me : Even considering reflexion from bellow, I think they are too orange-ish in tint. Being a halloween fan, I still love your drawing a lot tho.

  • Really comes to life with the color man, just awesome.

  • ..cheater.. ;_; now i´m depressed. joke. very fabolous work! great!
