For some lucky people talk of austerity in Spain will become meaningless when the winners in the world's biggest lottery are announced Saturday afternoon.

Spaniards queued around the block for tickets for the Christmas lottery, also called "el Gordo" - the fat one.

But what happens if you're the only one in your town who misses out on the big win?

Al Jazeera's Simon McGregor-Wood reports from Sodeto, in northern Spain.
