@AnimeCanuck I think Makuhita is sapphire-only, so it's handy for ruby players. In the original, that was only sometimes true. Like that person who wanted to trade a nidoran female for your nidoran male, while the females were more common in blue version.

Magikarp has passable physical def. Its special def is lame. To save you some time, "Move PKMN" acts as both deposit and withdraw. You can move them to and from your party. Hariyama (sp?) < Vigoroth or Slaking.

@marashu Oh, this is actually very helpful - the Move PKMN thing. I thought it was for organization only, like back in Red and Silver. That's good to know! Thanks! The other think you're saying... I don't understand.

@AnimeCanuck The other thing I'm saying is that Makuhita's evolution isn't as good as Slakoth's evolutions (the middle one is Vigoroth, and the final one is Slaking). Vigoroth is pretty strong and attacks every turn like normal. Slaking skips every other turn like Slakoth, but it has godly physical attack to make up for it. If you don't like missing every other turn, don't evolve Vigoroth and it'll still be ok. Long story short, trade's not worth it in my opinion.

@marashu What's weird about it though, is that I can CATCH both Pokémon involved. In the days of Red and Silver, a trade like that with an NPC was the ONLY way you could get that Pokémon. So... I find it really odd.
