The problem I have with the way this is phrased is that it implies that Scientology being a scam is somehow an "alternative" to it being a religion - the way the question is phased implies it cannot be both, and I find that to be dishonest bullshit designed to placate religious people's sensibilities. Yes, it can be both a religion, and be a dishonest scam. Most religions are just as dishonest, but their origins were so long ago that we're more used to their lies as being commonplace.

This Scientology is just another sad sign of the harsh reality of how truly lost so many people in the world are today and there is so many sick cruel heartless human beings out there willing make millions from that loneliness.
