I found this guy through The Cramps, who recorded a cover of "Save It." His other tracks available on YouTube, "Joy Ride" and "Are Ya With Me?" are also phenomenal. He might be my favorite vocalist.
Also, he was blind. What is it with blind piano players?

I used to have a 45 by Mel before he became known as Hargus "Pig" Robbins. It was "Go Ahead On" b/w "Teenage Tears" both instrumentals. I'm not sure if I still have it.

mel robbins was session piano player hargus pig robbins who played on 1,000's of big hits and was relatively unknow in his own right as a singer but more for his session work
