  • I have a question if you don't mind me asking. I know you use mics and whatnot, but my question is...HOW do you record it and get it on the computer? Is there a name of the device you use, like an 8 track or something like that? Cause I mean it sounds really...REALLY good

  • @Skiz316 Hi mate, no It's a bit simpler than using that. The mics record the kit into a Studiomaster PA mixing desk and the audio source is also fed into a 'line in' on the desk, the mix of drums and audio is then recorded onto mini disc.

That is then recorded on to the pc, mixed and saved as a wav file.

The video is uploaded to 'Movie Maker' and the wav too, when they are synched up the original sound from the camera is then muted and the wav takes over as the sound.

  • Very, Very, VERY nice performance. You really do honour the song! Altough I like the original recording better than Tommy Emmanuel's, you really make this version shine.

What ARE those hats? They sound super sweet! Also, do I see a Stagg splash to your left? They sure sound great for their price. Hilites also sound great (no kidding?).

Very nice hand techinque. Loved the rolls starting from 2:55.

  • Thank you Tatu, the hats are Zildjian Quick beat Platinum "14 and yes I have i think about 5 various Stagg splashes on the kit and they are a great cymbal for the low cost, the kit is actually the ''Sonolite' Norwegian Birch,

The fills at 2.55 started out as a double paradiddle and then moved into displaced continuous 6 stroke rolls.

Thanks for leaving such a nice comment

All the very best from England

  • I love it!

    Very very nice!! :D

    Your own recording stuff?

What kind of mics do you use?

  • Yes my own sound studio, in fact the studio where I teach the students you see on here playing the Pearl GLX. The mikes are a reasonably cheap miking system with a brand name 'Eagle' using omni-directional for the toms, snare and kick and a condenser mike (phantom powered) on the hi hats, no overhead as find the overspill seems to pick up fine without.

    Glad you enjoyed it
