Worldwide Bearings Racing

Tommy Miceli, racing at his home track with family & friends out in force for support and riding a very fast Suzuki @ the NHRA SuperNationals, great ingredients for a weekend of racing!

Friday comes up sunny and bright and expectation levels are high for a good qualifying pass, the team breezes through tech and after some interesting thought processes the bike and rider make weight, time to strap it up and race! Qualifying pass #1 is set up soft and the team goes 7.30, not great but decent for never riding the bike until that pass. One word, sand trap, not a good place to ever visit especially on a Pro Stock Motorcycle but the motorcycle only nosed in so no harm no foul. Qualifying pass #2, Blake Gann "tweaks" it a little and the team puts up a 7.08! Worldwide Bearings has come to play the game, one problem, that pesky sand trap and the motorcycle meet again but this time the meeting is not as smooth and Tommy takes a tumble. No worries, Tommy and Team WWB does not quit, bypassing the scales and DQ'ing a very good pass the team works until 2AM getting the bike cleaned, repaired and the braking system rebuilt. "We can stop safely or I do not race" says Tommy. Saturday morning and the temperature are already climbing high as are expectations to improve upon the previous evening .08 pass. First things first, stop safely... Qualifying pass #3, 1.07 in the first 60ft and the bike is on a pass but Tommy clicks it early for a 7.21 and then does a triumphant fist pump as the teams late night work showed immediately, "I could have made the 1st turn off as the brakes worked great"! said Tommy as he returned to the trailer. OK, time to run it out the back door and improve the teams' #16 qualifying position. Improvement was going to be a tall order as bad air was the theme of the day for qualifying pass #4, 1.09 @ the 60ft slowed the improvement but the Worldwide Bearings Xtreme Machines Suzuki was in the show!

Sunday morning, clouds are low, heat index is high and the ladder finds Tommy having to race his good friend, Michael "Rampaging" Phillips in the 1st round. The team does the job in the pits and Tommy does the job on the starting line by leaving 1st .033 to a .070 but the performance was not there to get past the first round battle. Tommy told the team afterwards, "thanks for everything, we didn't give up and we showed them what we are made of this weekend. We might not have been the fastest but we got heart and determination."

A big THANK YOU to GANN Speed, Blake, Chuck & Shawn for the use of their Suzuki TL1000, the bike is fast and the team very helpful and knowledgeable. It was both team's first time working together and everything jelled quickly and smoothly.

"Teamwork is the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon goals..."
