@foul01 lol well when you lower the tension, you get more power. he's hitting with strings that aren't strung as tight as in his prime and he's doing well. and sampras is hitting very well these days. i'd say that his game is fine with modern rackets (a little bit more than fine lol)

sampras likes a high strung racket, he uses one in matches, and he's used to it

you can't just say that he "could have" hit harder with a looser racket. it's not his game and so it wont happen

it's like saying sampras probably would have enjoyed better success on clay if he kept a two handed backhand than switch to a one handed

sampras' game isnt suited for a modern racket, even if a modern racket is that much superior, it will benefit sampras very little

@foul01 ...you really think that modern rackets aren't that different from a racket that came out in 1983? trust me: modern rackets make a difference. sampras is 40 yrs old now and still serves in the high 120's- low 130's with a new babolat. he'd be serving rockets around 140ish on average with new stuff in his prime. and he strung his racket back then at 70+ lbs, so he'd be getting some more mph's if he had lower tensions in addition to a new racket

i seriously doubt it. 12 of sampras' 14 slams are from fast grass and fast hardcourt

that kind of stuff is pretty much nonexistent in today's tennis

3~5 max, even with a "modern" racket, which i doubt is really that much superior to a 1990s racket

@foul01 well you have to give him better tech lol. yea maybe 3-5 slams with an old pro staff, but a bunch more with a modern racket and strings

just imagine sampras having a career record similar to his records in the french open (clay) and australian open (slow harcourt)

sampras would probably have around 3~5 slams in today's tennis

Hmmmm,in 90's tennis surfaces didn't change a lot. Federer started with a fast grasscourts and if it stayed like that,he wold dominate on grass totaly. But he adopted very well on this slowing down of grass and hardcourts. Supouse that happened in 90's, I'm not sure if Sampras would have that kind of success. Then,that would aloud players like Agassi or Chang to have even more success than they had. That's why Nadal,Djoko and others are so god. Fed just has more variabillity then Sampras.
