I will be sitting and nod out, drop what I'm holding then wake up several times in a row. I am tired a lot and I take ambien to make me sleep at night. I also have had depression. I can sleep after coffee.
@chrisville37 great exlpanation of narcolepsy.I have had it since 12 years old. Im now 39. First signs for me was falling asleep in class or short spells of constant yawning and squinting, esp during long periods of sitting with no physical interaction. if you know some one like this please let them know about narcolepsy. I wasnt diagnosed until I was 17. I had already quit school because of it. meds help tremendously. hope this helps. I take dexedrine. plz post if u have or need more info.
Great video! After years of wondering what was wrong with me and countless doctor's visits, I was diagnosed with Narcolepsy (without Cataplexy) this past week. It is such a relief to finally know what's was going on with me. The sleepyness started in high school and worsened slowly over the years. I'm 34 now and looking forward to managing this ailment head on! Thanks for the informative video :)
I've been trying to deal with Narcolepsy/ Cataplexy for years now, and I'm wore slam out. The depression that comes with this disease is about as bad as the disease itself. I was a test patient for the drug Zyrem, to me thats a scary drug, If you needed to get up or out of the house, you'd never make it. The times I've been to hospitals, and Dr. visits, I feel so selfish, because there are so many other diseases that are much worse, but this disease is so life altering~ I would love help!
Thank you for this video....Diagnosed with Narcolepsy w/out Cataplexy....and my eldest has felt for the last few years that I was "LAZY'.......thank you for explaining this....as well as validating my symptoms...tho my sleep dr diagnosed me I had not had such a clear explanation of the illness.....THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

It's not a disease, it's a disorder. Don't make it seem like I caught something, I was born with this.
