An excerpt from the documentary "Coming Home...fighting AIDS with Culture," taking a look at how the Orisha in Trinidad use their culture to translate messages of sexuality, abstinence and protection from HIV.
Ashe O! As a child of Oshun, knowing what my mother represents, knowing her secrets & how I try to live my live fruitfully and respectfully, how I try to always share with others the knowledge and experiences of our culture, it is a beautiful and courageous mission "Coming Home" has taken on. Not only does it bring me pride as a child of Oshun but as a Social Service worker & Human Rights Activist; As a Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Educator & Community Organizer, this work is inspiring!
I too would like to truly "come home", to my natural heritage. anyone reading this contact by via msg I woudl really like to know the truth about mu roots. help!
Ache! Oshun and the Orisha are beautiful and help one to realize the sacredness of their bodies and souls. Maybe if children were raised to respect their bodies and the bodies of others, we could manage to heal certain wounds in our society.
