@nevyn1 I'm not going to disagree with you here at all.
But you have to put things into perspective;
If a recycleable ~10lb battery and 2lbs of recycleable neodymium in a motor will save you thousands of gallons of gasoline, use 10% of the energy of a car, and enable you to go distances or climb hills that would normally be physically impossible for you... is that really worse than driving a car?
If so then you are against electric and hybrid cars too.

@neptronix not that long ago National Geographic magazine had quite an insightful story about these rare earths minerals and how they are in great demand to create our ever in size shrinking gadgets, china is the largest producer and user of these minerals and is using them at a alarming rate.

never owned a car, neither do my parents just way to expensive for something that just 'sit's' there doing nothing about 95% of the time.

NiMH batteries are old news. The impact of rare earth mining ( very energy intensive typically ) & cost were the major reasons they were abandoned, so i agree that they were bad.
NiMH was abandoned for everything but the Toyota Prius about 5 years ago.
You seem hell bent on dinging me for replacing my 3000lb 150hp gas burning car with a 1hp 50lb solar-charged electric bicycle. I'm a monster aren't i? Al Gore should slap me on the wrist for being such a polluter.
