@Bobjb999 Fred said it isn't about Tom Verlaine. That was just used as a reference point and became the title.
I'm trying to work out the lyrics but it's hard to hear them all. I have this for the first verse:
(...) said in 1979, didn't we breakfast together
Celebrating my 17th (that were) Tom Verlaine together
Well we shouted from the bedroom window
And would be happy that day
(We'll go hops and worlds), the whisky
Well at least go on dying that day

If this song's about Tom Verlaine, I have no clue what it's supposed to be saying about him, as I can barely make out a word. Is it praising Tom? Insulting him? Making fun of him? Telling his life story? Telling lies about him?
Who knows?!

I was on this boat, still ranks as the best gig I've ever been to, brilliant, do you have anymore footage of the boys, here or elsewhere???

Best band of the 90's - I just failed to get all my mates to see the light. My mates were ignorant bastards though.
