if water temp goes below 15C, wetsuits are compulsory. above 15C optional.
current predictions are 15C in London and East and 17C in North and Scotland

Im swimming in 2009-i was just going to swim without a wet suit. Does it make a huge difference? Could i swim it just in my costume? Any tips would be great!

Last year we had the Olympic medalists from open water completing the mile swim in around 17min and the longest time was 1 hr 32 min.
The average time was around the 50 min mark.
But there were plenty of people doing breaststroke chatting with their friends all the way around, so a good mix of abilities from serious swimmers to those trying open water for the first time!
