Street improvements for 2010 for the Dupont and Twin Lakes North neighborhoods in Brooklyn Center were approved by the Brooklyn Center City Council Monday. Public informational meetings on the projects are expected to take place in late fall. A feasibility report for each project will be presented to the council in February.
A stream restoration project in Brooklyn Park and Brooklyn Center will get funding assistance from Hennepin County. The Hennepin County Board of Commissioners approved to add the project to the county's capital improvement plan at its August meeting. The stream corridor improvements will be on Shingle Creek between Regent Avenue and Noble Avenue North.
Filings for local school districts and city councils opened this week and will be open until Tuesday, Sept. 8. The filings are for elections that will be conducted Tuesday, Nov. 3. Check with your local school district or city to find out about vacancies on the ballot for the general election.
In Robbinsdale School District 281, four, four-year terms will be on the ballot.
In the city of Golden Valley, two, four-year terms will be up for election this fall.
For the Anoka-Hennepin School District three, four-year terms will be on the ballot. The district is also seeking a general fund levy renewal that will be on the ballot.
For the Brooklyn Center School Board District 286 there are three, four-year seats open.
