did you try changing the sensor out first, my 01 ranger is doing somewhat same thing minus the squeaking. when i give it gas at about 40 mph it will cut and rpm drop code came up as cam shaft position sensor.

@jimbob37110 yeah, one of the first things i tried was the sensor. If the code you pulled was for the sensor, try that first. It's much cheaper than the whole assembly. Good luck with the repair.

Thanks for this follow up video it made the difference in my change out job. I was really nervous pulling the Camshaft out and studied it and studied it and eventually had to hammer it to go all the way bak in to the hole because the fins(gears) had to rotate into position.
