KOTC Welterweight Champion Aaron Wetherspoon took on challenger Anthony Lapsley. Both fighters started quickly and exchanged several combinations with Lapsley attempting a number of takedowns. He had the slight edge over Wetherspoon in the first round. Both men started the second round similar to the first before the crowd in attendance got to witness one of the most bizarre endings in combat sports. As both fighters threw simultaneous right hands, they both came in leading with their heads. Unexpectedly, their heads violently collided, buckling both fighters and sending each one to the mat. The champion, Wetherspoon, was completely knocked out. Both fighters lay on the ground for several seconds. Lapsley finally got up after about 15 seconds while Whetherspoon remained stiff and motionless on the ground. The headbutt was so loud that the fans at the back of the room could hear the thud of the clashing of heads. Although entertaining, the fight was rendered a No Contest at 19 seconds of the second round, leaving the championship belt intact on Aaron Wetherspoonmas" hand signal, the fight was ruled a no-contest.
