I normally don't touch perfection, but I had always wanted to see this from a closer vantage point., so I created the video with changes in perspective. I want to see Judy's expression ... see the Power ... feel her Magic as I watch. I couldn't get it too close without losing some of the integrity ... but I was able to add, I think, a different dimension.
Judy's performance of this song in A Star is Born is ,without a doubt, one of film history's Greatest Moments. She performs the song during an after hours rehearsal session in a smoky nightclub, & it is unusual for being filmed as one continuous shot. A Star Is Born was Judy's personal odyssey. Not being confined to the constraints of MGM any longer, Judy had the freedom to express her talent & creativity to the fullest. ... And she knocked us out!

The night is bitter,
The stars have lost their glitter;
The winds grow colder
And suddenly you're older -
And all because of the man that got away.

No more his eager call,
The writing's on the wall;
The dreams you dreamed have all
Gone astray.

The man that won you
Has gone off and undone you.
That great beginning
Has seen the final inning.
Don't know what happened. It's all a crazy game!

No more that all-time thrill,
For you've been through the mill -
And never a new love will
Be the same.

Good riddance, good-bye!
Ev'ry trick of his you're on to.
But, fools will be fools -
And where's he gone to?

The road gets rougher,
It's lonelier and tougher.
With hope you burn up -
Tomorrow he may turn up.
There's just no letup the live-long night and day!

Ever since this world began
There is nothing sadder than
A one-man woman looking for
The man that got away...
The man that got away.

  • One word, talent.

  • An incredibly powerful voice, each note stronger than the previous.

  • @mitch1234129 Searched, listened, dismissed. She doesn't sing badly, but this kid is no Judy. Trying to compare her to Judy is like trying to compare a nicely made dollhouse to a real mansion. What ever you put inside it, you simply cannot live in it. You can live in Judy's music,

When she was fourteen years old, she sang "You Made Me Love You" in "Broadway Melodies of 1938". Go listen to it and tell me you think Ariana Grande compares well in any way. If you do, your taste has been corrupted!

  • She is the only one of her kind. Magnificent! The only female singer that approaches her talent is Barbra. No one else. What a shame she died so young. I didn't see this till I was fifteen or sixteen, but I saw "Over The Rainbow" quite young, around seven or so, and fell in love with Judy instantly. Never fell out. I'm almost seventy, but I like lots of current female singers. Whitney, for instance, & Beyonce, etc.. I love Leona Lewis. But there has never been anyone like Judy.

  • George Cukor, the director of this movie, could not believe that Judy Garland thought that she was worthless. He tried to tell her she was special, but she wouldn't believe it. I say Judy, you were unforgettable, God bless your spirit.

  • Everybody search ariana grande and listen to her singing one of judys songs!

  • @cinderelmo I also loved her singing "A new world" from the same film.not posted yet.

  • every word.........i feel like she means it. she's so powerful.

  • @jackiescanlon I so agree with you AND Groucho and I am sure so many other people ..That was Oscar's BIGGEST BLUNDER EVER !! oh , that and Crash winning for Best Picture ...LOL .xoxo

  • Her gestures here really remind me of Liza Minelli's in 'New York New York', when she sings 'The World Goes Round'. They are both utterly wonderful.
