The Orange-footed Scrubfowl (Megapodius reinwardt) builds the largest nest of any bird (it may reach 4.5 m in height and 9 m in diameter), consisting of a huge pile of dead leaves, inside which it lays up to two dozen eggs, which are incubated by the heat from the rotting vegetation. (Cape Tribulation, Queensland, Australia).
