  • MAN! This is just a blessing right here. That battle in the mind that happens before prayer. No Longer will I let satan defeat me!

  • SET ASIDE A TIME AND PLACE! AMEN!

  • You must admit this god gives a lot of power to his competitor. I bet they are buddies from childhood.

  • I don't really understand?

  • what a good messege, for the last few days I have been doing alot a school work.

    I needed this

  • @aboyborninjune I can't fully answer that question. But I believe it's because God is a creator, not destroyer. The Bible says that God was grieved he had made humans due to our wickedness, but he didn't completely destroy us. He doesn't delight in destruction.

And since God is not a man, and, as the Bible says, his ways and thoughts are higher than ours, I have think that he's a ALOT smarter than us and knows way more about this situation/outcomes of such action than we do.

  • @YamiKazeSora Why not just destroy the devil completely, if he's stronger.. I would have :P

  • @aboyborninjune He is. But he doesn't force us to pray, he lets us choose to pray, over what ever else the devil may tempt us with. ^-^

  • If I may add to this: Im just reminded of Jesus in the gospels... At a few points he left a crowd he was preching to... Just to go seek his father on a mountain.. To most people it would seem neglecting.. But imagine a pastor/teacher nowadays, just walking out of their own sermon....... And not seeing them for a few days.... Thats how important Jesus' relationship with his Father was.. So John hit the nail on the head with that... Most times, its the good things that keep us from Dad!!!

  • @Strefanasha Your assumptions made on what Piper is teaching is completely wrong. The reason it is wrong, and this may not be your fault, is because it is an ignorant view on Piper. Had you heard a complete sermon from Piper, I doubt you would have this view.

A complete sermon from Piper on prayer: w w w [dot] desiringgod [dot] org/resource-library/sermons/be-devoted-to-prayer

Here you should see that Piper agrees with some of your claims and that there is more to prayer than spontaneity.

  • if prayer were your pleasure and joy you would not have to consciously set aside a time for it, it would be as spontaneous as breathing. what? you have nothing to say to God? well, it mocks him to pray like a pagan, which is what legalistic prayer is, which of course is what Piper advocates
