I'm very proud of this song, and it's been made a miracle by my mother, author and subtle activist Lynda Terry, who made her recording debut singing the harmonies. My mother suffered a series of heart attacks last August and was diagnosed with a rare condition known as SCAD (Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection). After beginning the long road to recovery, she and I devised a plan for her to sing in the studio, thereby checking that feat off her "bucket list." The joyful experience of singing proved to be a turning point in her healing process. Sometimes we forget just how powerful the expression of love in song can be.
In light of the fact that February 3, 2012 is National Wear Red Day and the American Heart Association is promoting the Go Red For Women campaign, I thought it appropriate to use this video as an opportunity to spread the word about SCAD and heart health in general.
