Back in 1988, Compaq Computer Corporation was a raging giant in the worldwide personal computer marketplace, yet still managed to keep the "family feel" among the employees. As an employee at this point in history you still knew the majority of the people you saw in the hallways of your particular building, and every department felt part of the same team, especially the wonderful relationship between Service and Engineering.
This video clip, a satire on the quarterly video "Compaq News Link", was made to be shown at a corporate meeting of Compaq Sales Representatives in Houston.
Compaq founders and lead employees are featured prominently throughout the video. Of particular interest is the funeral for the original Compaq Portable, attended by many of the engineers and executives who gave it life. I could almost swear some of those tears were real!
This is a must see video! Corporate DoubleSpeak jesting at the realities of an emerging marketplace fuel this sometimes dead-on satire of what it was like to be at Compaq "back in the day."
Compaq vets, prepare for the flashback!
Funny!
