John Piper from Desiring God says unbelievers have the voice of God in their hearts. Ask yourself. Isn't this leading people to listen to their own hearts and not the Bible? "The heart is deceitful above all things." (Jer 17:9). Are Piper's comments supported by Romans 1 or Romans 2? No. See... http://Godnoliar.com/rom1.htm and http://Godnoliar.com/rom2.htm
Response to Tim Mcneely : G'day Tim! Thanks for your feedback. You're right that Romans 1 says everyone knows about God. But the question is HOW do they know about God. Do unbelievers 1) have the knowledge of God deep down in their hearts (as Piper says) or 2) do unbelievers merely HEAR about God. Now, Piper teaches point #1, that is -- unbelievers deep down know the True God created the worlds.
But how does Piper deal with Hebrews 11:3? This verse says it is by FAITH we understand the worlds were framed by the Word of God. And unbelievers do NOT have faith. Therefore unbelievers do NOT understand the worlds were created by God.
Take for example Arminians who say that a man created the world. Their god is a changeable, weak, helpless being (a man) that cannot do what he wants to do. He wants everyone to be saved but utterly fails to accomplish what he wants. So they believe a pathetic idol/man created the worlds. Deep down they have NO IDEA who the True God is, because he is the opposite to their god -- the true God "works all things according to the counsel of his own will" (Eph1:11), "creates evil" (Isa45:7) and who achieves everything he wants.
Clearly most people think a man created the worlds. If they think otherwise, why do they always depict their "god" as a man? Moreover, why does their "god" act just like a man? Their god only saves people who are first "accept him" but rejects those who "reject him". This is not a divine being but a being that operates just like humans.
The True God is totally different. "The nations which sought after unrighteousness have obtained righteousness" (Rom 9). He is the only being who requires absolutely NOTHING from others. He gives righteousness to the thief on the cross and damns billions of moral, sincere, dedicated people.
Ask most "Christians" if they believe in the God who wants/needs nothing from mankind but gives chosen men a perfect righteousness. Most "Christians" do NOT believe in this God, but they believe in some contradictory being which does not exist (since their being is contradictory -- he is not perfect -- he cannot God).
Clearly most people believe in a god of their own imagination.
And they will continue to as long as they follow Piper's advice -- "listen to your inner voice". (That is like saying "follow the god of your own imaginations").

Yeah, I think the maker of this video has some issues that go a little deeper than this particular message. He doesn't really seem to get what Piper's saying.
the bible says that God has revealed himself to people and that people ignore that. Also God has given people conscience so people know when they do wrong. You are taking the words of piper out of context i think
You clearly have a bone to pick. If you read any of Piper's books you'd know the only source of truth he is ever concerned with is the Bible. I know of no other contemporary preacher with such a passionate allegiance.
in order to teach limited atonement, you have to say that God does not love all men(mr and mrs man). while it is true that the truth actually does not lie fully in armenian or calvinist views, limited atonement is an indictment against Almighty God and against his Messiah. predestination is known only from the perspective of the Almighty, and so, according to stephen hawking,"man is predestined, but since he has no way of knowing which way, he may as well not be."
John Piper openly rejects Limited Atonement. He endorses that heretic Mark Driscoll who also rejects Limited Atonement. He also endorses the theology of Millard J. Erickson, who also rejects Limited Atonement. John Piper is not a Calvinist.
I am having great difficulty understanding why you seem so bound and determined to take Dr. Piper's words out of context. This sort of rhetorical nonsense does nothing for your credibility among the biblically informed. You would do well to think again.
Indeed. Bain ignores Romans 1, that God's power and Godhead is understood clearly by the things that are made, leaving them without excuse. But Bain would leave them with excuse. He picks too far just try to find error. As if he has 1. no patience, 2. no discernment, 3. a need to justify himself and condemn others.
