  • i really like the painting, I found it really fitting with the music. nice preformance too.

  • so funny to play!

  • @f1f1s Indeed, he hasn't played at his best there (and "Listz" annoys me, too), but I just found it great to actually see Laurent Martin, a pianist who did so many great contributions to the Alkan community (most importantly that fantastic set of Esquisses). I'm looking forward to watching a whole DVD of his performances, played in a studio for example (like those of Valentina Lisitsa) where he can do as many takes as he needs to achieve what he wants (a certain colour, a mood, accuracy, etc.).

  • @madlovba2

Thank you for the link!! The link is the Song of the Mad Martin.. Oh, kidding, he is just warming up. The ABB reportages are mad, too (for 'LisTZ'). But it's much harder to play in front of the camera once, we all know (and see). Maintaining the right dynamics is exhausting when there is no opportunity to replay.

  • @f1f1s @OrangeSodaKing Have you seen this?? /watch?v=Y2U6YtBZZgM I've just found it, a video of Martin, including excerpts of him playing this Le chemin de fer and the Song of the Mad Woman!

  • @f1f1s Very well said :D

  • Maybe kaki0genkin's version has remained the only adequate existing for too long so this is why Martin's version sound too clear, too perfect, even a bit synthesized.

Oh, for the studio-recording-loving newcomers, surely, they must listen to this version first. Nevertheless, the older generation, like me, OrangeSodaKing, Madlovba2, Hexameron, Keithwhalen11, AlkanLiszt, Tomekkobialka and others, will always remember the pioneering pefrect rendition by kaki0genkin!!

  • Finally, one of Martin's two recordings is back up! Le Preux was already here, though. But thanks for the upload anyway. :)
