In this interview, WBCSD President Bjorn Stigson argues that one of the main impacts of the financial crisis is a stronger drive towards efficiency by business. He sees fossil fuels continuing to play a major role over the decades to come but stresses that new technologies will be key to reducing carbon emissions. He also cites the crucial need for a clear public policy framework to reduce these emissions. A growing global population, constraints on resources and the need to limit CO2 emissions, he says, urgently reinforce the need for sustainable solutions today that must last for decades to come.
