A first pass at a walk cycle I made with the Eleven animation rig (from the Eleven Second Club). This is my first attempt at character animation in Maya, coming from a traditional/2D background.

See more of my animation at blog.pinkandaint.com.

  • the "Retimer" tool in particular should allow you to mantain a similar workflow as the 2d flash workflow you described in your blog-- it´s the handiest thing out there for animation

  • youtube won´t let me post a link, but if you google bohdon dillotools, it should be the first gitHub link that pops up

  • Hey man, that´s a cool start on the animation. What method are you using for animation? Are you animating in spline or linear mode and hopping between keyframes, or are you animating in stepped?

If you´ve just started out animating in Maya, I highly recommend you use Bohdon Sayre´s DilloTools.

They´re pretty much indispensable! Good luck!
