Our planet is a fragile ecosystem. To keep it in balance, well have to figure out how to harness nature to generate clean, affordable energy. Catapult Design in San Francisco has one answer. Their turbines are cheap and practical, and can power a light or charge a cell phone in villages that are off the grid.

  • how often do villages, especially in the middle of nowhere, get 15 mph winds? not practical, it's also variable, still, great enthusiasm

  • i will invent a working device that will generate free energy...

  • @91lilfrozone23 Ok you got me there. I was thinking about some more remote places I have been to.

  • @91lilfrozone23

the government on third world countries steal a lot of money, they could care less about building the infrastructure necessary so all towns get electricity. makes you realize how little you know about the life-style in third world countries and makes you realize how much you take for granted this simple commodities you and i share in our daily chores.

please educate yourself before acting cocky and writing comments filled with ignorance.

    peace from guatemala

no way, for example: i live in guatemala, i own a huge farm (it's around 10 square kilometers). the farm itself is located around 3 kms away from the main road. there are little towns located inside my property and inside adjacent farms. there was no electricity access until 5 years ago when my dad decided to build the infrastructure so we would have electricity on our farm. this is a brilliant idea, not every one with cellphone service will have electricity.

  • @91lilfrozone23 yes but there is regular electricity access where there is cell phone service.

  • @MegaMaxemus

don't be so ignorant... a lot of people in latin america own cellphones because they are extremely cheap. they just don't have access to electricity, that's all.

  • @CITV08

a cheap cellphone over here is only like 13 bucks, and you can talk around 10 mins for 1 dollar. and to top it all you have an option of just buying the amount of minutes you want to talk, so you can spend as much as 3-6 bucks per month to talk 30-60 minutes.

and pardon my grammar.. it's 2am so it's not at its best.
