Richard Dawkins presents the ultimate three-part guide to Charles Darwin and his masterpiece, On the Origin of Species. Dawkins explains who Charles Darwin was, how he developed his theory, what it is, and why it matters. He reveals how Darwin changed forever the way we see ourselves, the world and our place in it, and hopes to convince us that 'evolution is a fact, backed by undeniable evidence'.
The Genius of Charles Darwin Part 1: God Strikes Back
Richard Dawkins (2008)
In this final episode Dawkins examines why Darwin's theory remains one of the most controversial ideas in history. As Darwin set out on the voyage on the Beagle he still believed that god created the world and everything in it. But the evidence he discovered demonstrated the truth: that all life forms vary and that some are more likely to reproduce, passing variations on. Today, Dawkins argues, science has the evidence to prove that evolution is true. Modern discovery of the DNA code has added to the mountain of evidence showing that evolution is a fact. So why, Dawkins wonders as he meets creationists in America, is opposition to evolution more aggressive than ever? Returning to the school he visited in episode one, Dawkins confronts the science teachers and challenges their view that they 'can't get in to the business of knocking down kid's religions and the religions of families'. Finally, Dawkins travels to meet an old friend, Dan Dennett, who shares many of his own beliefs, to answer the question Darwin himself was confronted with: how can we find solace in a godless world?

We humans come from a long line of failures basically. That Mr. Dawkins would be ecstatic over his ancestors being "winners" because of their coupling prowress is just.... animalistic.
God made us perfect, but we humans have done a great job of destroying his image in us.

I also don't understand the worship act to god, like how is any of that significant? Why does it matter? I think if it just so happens that there is a loving God like some people believe, then there is nothing to be worried about. Nothing petty will somehow make me burn, and if anything that in a way is a big sense of trust and respect.
Agnostic btw, but willing to keep an open rational mind.

If you consider this to be funny, then I happen to think that, in this case, your sense of humor has been corrupted... by some UNverifiable claims.
There are no leagues, there's just you... and the facts...
Embrace them, and their entire impact, or... well...
I'd really feel better if you'd otherwise consider yourself to be...
well...
narrowminded...
You seem like a nice person... but you've been deluded...

@TimotheosCauvin: If there was a god to think small of I would, very small indeed. But there isn't. You don't have anyone or anything to thank for life, although I suppose you could thank your parents, grandparents, great grandparents, etc. for being smart enough to live and reproduce. If you really want to thank 'god' thank him for the Crusades, Inquisition, gay-bashing, and trying to stop science at every turn.
If for some amazing reason I'm wrong and 'god' exists, he blows.

"Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice; let the sea roar, and all that fills it; let the field exult, and everything in it! Then shall all the trees of the forest sing for joy before the Lord." Ps 96
The role of humans in creation is to perceive and understand the splendorous beauty of nature more and more in order to canalize it and bring it to God in the form of praise. As N.T. Wright put it: We are supposed to be angled mirrors. In that respect we can learn a lot from Dawkins.

I really love listening to Dawkins & Co. when they talk about the beauty of nature and evolution, i.e. creation. The only difference is that as a Christian I am able to thank God for being allowed to be "part of this amazing, living tapestry of growth and exploration and innovation". If the universe is that amazing, how amazing must its Creator be?! Don't think small of God.
