Silent Lightning Storm

Like bright fireworks above the clouds, lightning flashed continuously on and off for much of the evening on July 23rd 2011. Not once did the sound of thunder ever echo across the night sky.
Odd but natural occurrence I'm sure. Although, I heard some say it seemed like a war was being fought high above the clouds, perhaps even in orbit? :)
