Using a standard LEGO Mindstorm 2.0 set, Hans Andersson has designed a stand-alone Rubik's Cube Solver. Using his plans and software I built his Tilted Twister in March 2011.

It can solve a randomized cube in about 6 minutes (usually under 65 twists). There are faster solutions out there, but its faster than I am!! In fact, Hans has a faster approach where the NXT Brick works in conjunction with a PC-based program, communicating via bluetooth.

At the end of the video, I showed it at the Robot Fest table at the Maryland FIRST Lego League (FLL) Competition. They loved it! "Best thing here!"

For build information, see Hans Andersson's site: www.TiltedTwister.com

For information about Robot Fest / Mid-Atlantic Mini-Maker Faire, see www.robotfest.com. Our event is held one weekend in April or May.

  • Hi! I think I spent 3-4 hours, but remember I didn't design it or create the program. I just used the plans and code from the TiltedTwister site (YouTube won't let me put the URL in this message).
