This is a fragment of the original theatrical cut of 1977, the Richard Dreyfuss character has a discussion with one soldier,do you recognize the actor?, it was cut in the new editions. Who knows why?

@RTPye117 Actually, the soldier that talks to Richard Dreyfuss around 1:45 is Carl Weathers, who played Apollo Creed in the Rocky movies. Lando was played by Billy Dee Williams.

i saw this scene 1 time when they showed it in 1982 on hbo. it was a little over 2 hrs. the only full scene they did not show was Air East taxiing to the gates and the agent requesting the film and recorders from the passengers.

Carl Weathers. LOL Close encounters has link to Predator and Aliens - Lance Henriksen eventually in 30 years time a both these frenchise will cross over.

Just love it. A film about aliens eventually links with other alien films.
