This was during the 2004 Season of Star Search where the Winners' Circle - champions from the different seasons compete with each other by challenging each other. This was a year after winning the title of Vocal Champion of Star Search 2 when he found out he had partial vocal paralysis but declined risky surgery.

Actually David was the Champion for 2003 Star Search. Then in 2004 where this video belongs, Star Search held a Winners' Circle Challenge where the wkly winner challenged anyone of the prev winners. David was the most frequently challenged champion. Week after week, he was the one chosen by the other winners to compete, until he was eliminated - at a time his vocal paralysis was already kicking in. That's also why he has the most number of Star Search vids posted in YT up to that point, LOL

I love this song so much! how much he's been changing physical and personally, but he's still the most humble and beautiful person I've ever seen in my whole life!
