Cover of Leonard Cohen song. I believe this is the only song he's recorded that he did not write.

From Wikipedia: "The Partisan" ("La Complainte du Partisan") is a song about the French Resistance in World War II. The song was written in 1943 in London by Anna Marly and Emmanuel d'Astier de la Vigerie. It has been adapted (with English lyrics by Hy Zaret) and covered by diverse artists, including Leonard Cohen, Joan Baez, Buffy Sainte-Marie, 16 Horsepower, Red Union, Po' Girl, Branimir Štulić and Electrelane. It is often confused with the Chant des Partisans, which became the unofficial anthem of the French Resistance.

E.T. "a heart of stone, but a tender stone"

  • I can certainly sense Joan Baez influences in your singing style. Very nice, Emengarde. You have a lovely name as well.

  • @wingsandash Thanks so much, I'm humbled for sure.

  • Beautiful

  • @badyin Thanks!

  • Learn French!!!

  • @ddomx Yes indeed I should! I once had the sheet music and also the one for Autumn Leaves in French, sadly I had all my sheet music stolen before I learned them and kinda gave up on my music after that. Thanks for listening.

  • I thought I replied to this wonderful tribute Janet, thanks so much once again in case you didn't receive it the first time. I really made me feel special!

Funny you used the term serenity, that is my first granddaughter's middle name, which I picked out for her!! Serenity is something that means much to me. What beautiful poetry you write! I must set something of yours to music someday.

    Be blessed.
