TIRANA, Albania. As he reached into an enthusiastic crowd, he was sporting a watch with a dark strap on his left wrist. Moments later, it was gone. The video has been all over Albanian TV and international Web sites.

The disappearance led to theories that someone in the adoring crowd slipped it right off his wrist. But officials say that's not true.

The US Embassy has emphatically denied that Bush's watch was stolen during his visit to the country. And the White House says the president has his watch.
