This is how I earned an Ace Rating.
I prefer the Nun chuck Sensitive Simulator mode for this level.
A few tips for dog fighting: If you are serious about dog fighting and being a virtual pilot, I recommend reading a genuine Vietnam era fighter pilot / dog fighting manual written by an actual Vietnam era fighter pilot I found this manual to be invaluable by implementing the different moves and strategies described in the manual, you will have a distinct advantage over your enemies. Also, as soon as you complete the first wave of twelve (12) enemy planes, you will be given an opportunity to regain your health so be prepared to repeat the four (4) button prompt as soon as you finish shooting down the twelfth plane.
Several aerobatic moves that work exceedingly well for me, and will work well for you, are: The Immelmann turn, Split S, Rolling Scissors, Hammerhead, Figure Eights and Chandelle if you are unfamiliar with these moves, look them up on Google I do not know how to explain them in this format.
Also, become familiar with your planes abilities some planes can turn on a dime, and therefore are great for tight, rolling combat maneuvers other planes have great speed and acceleration, and therefore are great for speeding away and turning around and zooming back into the combat zone. As you familiarize yourself with each plane you will learn which plane is best for each mission and it is not necessarily the default plane.
