This review does NOT contain spoilers

this movie doesnt have the distribution of major blockbusters, so see if you can find a theater near you.

Okay, so this is the first review ive done, so its flawed, but i said what i want to say. A couple things.

First, the movie doesn't say this, so you wont know what a synecdoche is. not knowing doesnt affect your understanding of the movie, but it doesnt hurt to know. a synecdoche is a figure of speech in which part of something stands for the whole. ie: wings would be seen as an airplane, or a hard drive would be seen as a computer. however, i wont reveal how this fits into the context of the movie. see it, and it will make sense.

second, a little shout out to all the people at the Landmark Sunshine Cinemas who were at the 1:30 showing on the 25th. You probably saw me. or something.

  • One thing I hate about watching a Kaufman film is that when it's over, you're left to wait at least 5 years for his next major project... I've seen all the films at least 4 times each, but I crave more... Kaufman is a genius, fuck the critics...

Yeah I know, but if he put stuff out all the time, Id be less interested. Same with Jonze, Andersone, Gondy and Lynch. They are tantalizing. I agree with your list...somewhat. For me its:

    6: Confessions

5: Human Nature (though I loved it)

    4: Malkovitch

    3: Eternal Sunchine

    2: Adaptation

    1: Synecdoche.

Still, Gondry's Science of Sleep stands as my favorite movie right now, simply bc it speaks to me in a very deep, personal, profound way.
