Hazaar Chaurasi Ki Maa (1998) (English: Mother of 1084) is an Indian feature film that deals with the life of a woman who loses her son, a Naxalite, to the violence that is a result of his adopted ideology.
The film is directed by Govind Nihalani and is based on Magsaysay and Jnanpith award recipient Mahasweta Devi's Bengali novel Hajar Churashir Ma. In 1998, Hazaar Chaurasi Ki Maa won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi.

thought provoking is how i would like to define it.

this movie shows that there is something ppl believe in even whne it comes to fundamentalism. people just see that the naxals have killed cops or whatever but they dont see that 'unho ne ek sapana dekha hai'. there is something they are working towards.

this was jaya ji.s comeback film and she did it only for money as amitabh ji was highly indebted at that time.
