SunRay Kelley, featured on MTV Extreme Cribs, is already designing a lighter, more aerodynamic body for the second generation of his solar-electric superhybrid Gypsy Wagon. The current RV market has evolved very little, still producing big rectangular boxes with terrible gas mileage. SunRay's alternative is a sleek, curvaceous, lightweight body that cuts easily through the wind. A solar array on top of the full-scale vehicle will charge the battery banks that power the electric motor. A diesel generator will be used for backup power, and can be modified to run on vegetable oil. This diesel-electric configuration has long been utilized to power trains and ships because of its greater efficiency and power.
