This was inspired by the Lamentations DVD. A friend brought it over one day, and it blew my friggen mind. This was one of the greatest performances I have ever seen in my whole friggen life. Ever! The music, the sound, the performance, the lights, the photography, the editing... Everything was perfect.
I was so impressed, I actually had a new interest in music. It gave me drive and ambition. It made me slap some strings on some old dusty guitars and made me take drumming a little more seriously. I know I could never compare to Martin Lopez... Not even if he had both hands tied behind his back and a white-hot lawn dart pressed into his chest. The man is awesome. And so are the drummers on YouTube that can play his shit. I was lucky to even barely get by. It was fun to do. Every day I would get home from work and try and try to do the ending of Deliverance. That's the only reason I did it. Because I could. What... Theres no way I could even pull off the guitar parts in that damn song. They are brilliant. And this is for them. Opeth, that is.
Seriously though, dude, really amazing work, just outstanding in all respects. I've never heard the original version, so I've no basis for comparison there, but that was so metal. It's what I call "journey music". No, not the band, Journey :P. This music takes your imagination on a journey. Cheers bro!
