This is the slitscan/stargate effect that I produced using 3ds Max & After Effects for Subfocus' music video 'Rock It'. It's homage to the shots at the end of 2001: A Space Odyssey.
The shots in 2001 were originally created using an extremely time-intensive analogue camera technique.
The style was a pain to get right, but this is effectively two intricate designs, on two planes, left and right, with a very wide angle lens camera travelling between them at high speed. Glow was added in post. The effect took about 40 or so attempts to get anywhere close and required the two image planes to be planned out with the intricate shapes and details, with the length of each image being at very high resolution.

This is the closest example I've seen yet of duplicating the stargate effect. Nice job!
