I hope you remember to make it water proof. I like the idea of an EV Bike, but it rains a lot in Tasmania. It'd suck to get fried on the way home.

Which motors are these? I was planning on using an ME1003 brushed motor, but that only does 23kw max. Probably not quite enough to silence the old school bike guys haha, even if it's just a commuter bike.

@catavolt OK, so assuming samarium cobalt magnets have been used in this high temp application, it may be possible that the temperature limitations are not breached, however even if you manage a 90% eff you will see 5kw of pure heat, this will be a challenging task to counter for a 3 minute duration as even the stator laminelles will begin to suffer.
Having said this I am in full support, and hope it all goes smoothly , or atleast safely.

@LightningEVAustralia Luck we have a customized battery management system that monitors cell by cell temperature and voltage that will limit the bike as soon as any problem is found , You must remember this is a bike built for records not daily use and you will be hard pressed to find any manufacture that will warrant Items used in this way.

@LightningEVAustralia You would be assuming the motors are stock with stock magnets. Even in STD form these motor can peak over 50kw at that voltage.
if you can see there is a coupling between the motors to help with alignment as well as timing adjustments.

Zhejiang Xinghai Energy Technology do not warrant their batteries for 20C continuous, they are a peak rating at which the cells will not enter thermal runaway. At 20C you will see massive voltage drops and cell temperatures rocket.

Running Synchronous motors coupled out of allignment will cause rather severe efficiency losses when run from the same encoder output.
Also 40kw for 3 minutes coupled with efficiency losses is likely to de-gauss the rotor, meaning this is a one trick pony.

@Odziz BMS is a requirement of many manufacturers in order to even get permission to use some batteries, when using Li-Ion there is a real risk of fire or destroying the cells which is a costly exercise.
Unfortunately some people call cell balancers, Battery Management Systems, which is not an accurate term for them, and they don't cover the requirements of the battery manaufacturers, thus your warranty will be void without a proper BMS.

Nice jobs folks. Hey ANdy, what about the Electric Varadero ?
Hi Bokomoko, The Electric Varadero is in Ireland and I have been living in Sydney for two years so not had a chance to work on it. When I do finally get the project going again I am gonna make a lot of changes to that battery cage to reduce weight.
