This is my first cycle of 5/3/1, a review of the week.

I broke 4PRs this week in the press, deadlift, benchpress and squat.
I fell ill on thursday and completed the week by sheer folly/guts.

Squats suck when you have the flu.

  • Just wondering about the 5/3/1 program. For the four main lifts, do you rep until failure for each set or do you follow Wendler's guidelines?

  • @MrAsianGinger when i did 531 i tried to not fail in the main lifts. Failing during training is something you shouldn't do.

  • On your first press there is a bend in the knees.

  • @elykdavid well.. it's not exactly a pushpress though is it?

    you're only supposed to go to sub-failure in the last set of each exercise.

  • Good stuff man. I'm planning on using this in two weeks when my current workout cycle is complete.
