This song has incredible meaning for me. I first heard it ona tape of the 1975 Mariposa Folk Festival. In 1979, deep in the night of Oct 14, I had it playing at the moment of my fathers death. He was in Mendocino only once, but it had a special hold on him. I later founded Mendocino Public Broadcasting, and this song made it to the first broadcast of KZYX on Oct 15, 1989. It is such a special work, by an incomprable artist. I will miss you Kate. Thanks for your life.

Feel so moved again - these voices - these gathered musicians - since the early 70ies this song was one of my guidelines in life - in beauty. Bye... dear Kathie! (R from amsterdam)

This is the essential distillate of musicianship, musicality, soul and sensitivity...just wonderful anthemic, lump in the throat, proud to be alive stuff....wow

I have always liked this song. It reminds me of my roots growing up central New York State and moving on from there to Massachusetts and now Florida.

As far as I know the BBC only issued very selected series on video or DVD - god knows why but apparently they didn't feel them worth keeping for sale thereafter.

The thing I love most about Kate and Anna is the way their art consistently remained true and pure. They cared about the things that are most important without ever falling into the trap of the star maker machinery. I still miss Kate. Thank goodness for the music which is so enduring.

If ever a song could be categorized as "dulcet" it's this one. It's wistfully dulcet and romantic, so beautifully written and performed with love. One would need a heart of stone to not be seduced by this.

A very good question. Why have K&A been so marginalized over the years? This song & "Cheminant à la Ville" & "Going back to Harlan" & "Ce Matin" & K's final "Proserpina" are imo all absolute perfections in lyric, music, harmony & performance (+ many others of theirs) that should have been widely recognized in Canada at least. But being neither exactly English Canadian, nor "pure laine" Qébequois they were left to dangle. RIP Kate, to me you and Anna have been the best, bar none, worldwide.
