1.25.09 VIBE XIV @ UCI's Bren Performing Center. Sponsored by Kallusive Clothing. Chinese Pride. Representing their hometown Irvine, CA. Their style is creative and very energetic; they don't mess around and they are respected by all.
The Chinese Association at UC Irvine, also known as CAUCI, was created in the fall of 1969 by a group of friends who played basketball together. The main intent of the organization was to create and promote Chinese culture and heritage upon the University and surrounding communities. 34 years later, CAUCI has become one of the largest and most active organizations on the UC Irvine campus with a member base of over 300 students. From CAUCI came other organizations such as our famous Chinese Association Dance Crew, our Hip Hop dance team, and CA Martial Arts. Chinese Association Dance Crew, more popularly known as CADC, is an offshoot organization that stems from UCI's Chinese Association. Formed in 1994 and previously exclusive only to UC Chinese Club events, CADC (formerly known as CA Modern) has expanded their goals and gained a place within Southern California's hip hop dance scene with in the last several years. CADC is strictly a collegiate team, meaning that all dance members are official UCI students and CA club members. Although these two requirements have restricted many potential talented dancers from joining the team, CADC's past and present coordinators have done an outstanding job of recruiting teams with talent and most importantly, great chemistry. That bond is the quintessential factor that differentiates and has ultimately elevated CADC from the ranks of collegiate fields into the highly competitive Street Dance level. CADC stresses on having fun through competitive and exhibitive hip hop dancing. Throughout the season, CADC usually performs between 15-30 times. Their main performances are CA UCI's annual Culture Night and All UC, a tense but fun dance competition between all the California Universities (UCR, UCSD, UCSB, and UCLA) located in Southern California.
