  • It's A beautiful version of this song it's sad the origional creator of this song Arthur Crudupt didn't make a penny on royaltys on this song and died broke

  • @mrtruthforever

got that right...buncha no talent nobody punks. Elvis ruled then and over rules now

  • @jennytmaher,

I'm sure the song was popular in selected areas as a lot of songs are but when they speak of the charts, they're talking about national charts.

All of Sun's records were natonal releases, but only a few made the national charts, Carl Perkins Blue Suede Shoes, all of Johnny Cash's releases, and also two by Elvis Baby let's play house, and I forgot to remember to forget(#1 country)

Sadly, however Elvis's first 3 releases, including this one never hit.

  • @glipzik It wasn't released as a national single. It was on the local (Southern) charts. The first national release wasn't until Heartbreak Hotel in 1956.

  • Elvis' pure vocals together with the trademark Scotty Moore guitar riffs=perfection & history in the making. A live performance almost 60 years ago with nothing but a guitar & slap bass & Elvis' amazing voice. Today's multi-tracking, lip-syncing, hi-tech stage shows, etc., can't come close to real talent, exemplified by Elvis, that can perform live on stage with the bare minimum of instrumental backup & technology & yet produce a sound quality on par to that of a studio performance.

  • He didn't say what charts. It never appeared on Billboard's.

  • @MsMusic1212

I second that emotion! It's hard for today's audiences to realize how hugely popular the late great Mr Presley was. There had been nothing quite like him up to then. A veritable "force of nature"! As the announcer in the clip states, he had a truly different & unique style...and being young, energetic & hunky certainly didn't hurt any.
