I've used StaBil fuel stabilizer for a couple of decades. Never had any issues until recently. My Yamaha EF2400iS generator started to surge at idle. Unless the choke was applied, the motor would continue to surge. So I opened an access panel on the generator, removed the fuel line, and drained the gas into a jar (later used in a mower). The tank was filled with fresh gas, and a dose of Seafoam fuel treatment. After 1 gallon, you can see the results. No affiliation with anyone. Just impressed with the results!

  • Very nice generator, I used to own the same model as this but I ended up upgrading to a Honda eu3000is inverter generator which is a tad quieter than the ef2400. I paid $750.00 the ef2400 yamaha generator used on craigslist and ended up selling for $900.00, turned around found a 2 year old Honda eu3000is for $1k and scooped it up =). Honda and Yamaha are the best inverter generators on the market now they'll cost you but you pay for what you get. I'm done with LOUD ASS GENERATORS!

Don't think you can go wrong with either Yamaha or Honda. Both have excellent quiet series generators. The upside of the 2400 is it has the same sized motor as a 3KW, but weighs half as much as a 3KW (either brand). Ditto the comment on noise!

  • I know seafoam works, but first part of the video you had a 500 watt light with a multiple outlets and the heat gun.second part you only had just the heat gun so the results are not accurate.

  • @bertsbug

Read the description, watch the video again. The surge occurs at IDLE, no load. First part of the video is without the light, surges at idle. The end of the video with the heatgun off, no surge at idle. Results are accurate. ;-)

  • Since my 2400is started surging, I'm hopeful you can help me with the following question.

How much SeaFoam did you mix in with 1 gallon of gas?

    Thanks

    Ponti

  • @Pontihog

I used double the standard recommended amount, or about 2 oz/gallon. The manufacturer says this is the max ratio. Generator still running great. I'm using 1 oz per gallon from now on.

  • Hey, was wondering if this was due to the gas drain or the seafoam treatment. Just curious.

  • Not sure abut sea foam, heard great things about it but I have personally use Diesel Kleen in my '95 blazer with 4.3. Mechanic said it needed new injectors, put diesel kleen in it, let it sit for about 2 weeks (had a diesel truck), next time I started it the idle was smooth, no more black exhaust smoke, and no more check engine light.

  • Thanks I'll give it a try this weekend!

  • Same story here. I'm a believer too. Thanks for the reassurance
