The Angelus is a prayer prayed traditionally prayed at 6 AM, Noon and 6 PM. Many churches ring the bells at these times to remind all the faithful in earshot to pray the Angelus. While religious and priests pray the Divine Office, the laity might be working in the fields and unable to stop to pray, so the Angelus was an easy-to-remember reflection on the mystery of the Incarnation, and a way to sanctify the day. Here are pictures from Saint Peter Catholic Church in Stevens Point WI, with the sound of the bells ringing the Angelus, and the words of the prayer for you to pray along.
