I think a captive great white would be a great way to help people see these creatures up close, and come up with their own opinions on the species as opposed to watching "Jaws" and labeling them all as mankillers. Besides, sharks arent as tightly knit and sociable as whales and dolphins.

lol u dumb.

sharks are not as social as whales and dolphins wtf they're rogues, not pack animals, and they spend very little time with their young or their mates. They are 'mankillers' simply because they kill humans in the water and they are eating machines. Mindless? no. Destructive? yes. No pity for an apex predator.

I said labeling them "all"..keyword "all" as mankillers. Human flesh isnt a main part of a sharks diet, often it is mistaken for their other sources of food.

I'm dumb?

I've been volunteering there since 2002. All of our white sharks were cuaght in fishing gear by fisherman in southern California; they were not born in captivity!! I'm not sure why you thought that. We successfully kept and released 4 white sharks, and all were given satellite tags for tracking their migrations. The last white shark was intimidated by the other fish in the tank, and she only ate once in the 10 days we had her, so we released her early. We only keep them for 6 months maximum!

It is only speculated that they become disorientated due to the sensitivity of their navigation system. the steel & electronics used in & around the aquarium can cause them to do this but this is speculation only as no one knows for sure. They are also the only fish known to poke their head out above water to view the world above (called spy hopping) & also have binocular vision just like us so maybe the inprisionment is just all too much for them....plus they can't eat their room mates he he
