  • Bars / Dixon been pretty shithouse lately, you from around that area?

  • Nah...live in New Lambton and surf Off the pumphouse (bommie) at Merewether (religiously), Crabbs and the Harbour when its got waves. Been crap lately yeah...some today tho.

  • i had never thought mereweather was world class. i always thought it was over rated but after seeing this i think i'll change my mind

  • I don't know if you are familiar with the Merewether set up...but it is a right hander. This is Dixon Park a couple of hundred meters Nth up the beach...but nevertheless world class...best since July 01 (see July Juice on YouTube). Merewether was too square on this day hence why I was the only one out.

  • haha yer i kinda thought mereweather was a right hander, and yer i just thought they never showed a left hander. Just like pipe they give pipe all the glory and backdoor is in the occasional frame. Yer mereweather by yourself how was it

  • The swell was from the ENE and the tide was dropping so it squaring onto the rock shelf...so being 4-6 ft you really needed to go go go then off. Occassionally they peeled a bit fat (ala one in That Friday). You didn't want to get caught inside thats for sure. Where is your local ???

Yes, son, been there done that at Dicko. That was you I saw out there 6,7,or 8 July 2001, wasn't it? Anyway, you just don't pay enough attention. If you did you'd see the folly in your bravado. UVW318W08

  • @ozzydoop1 ...really interesting point you make bro, and makes sense too... a beach is an ebb and flow arrangement of sand and water, with banks building and dissolving to be built again. so when the dunes are stabilised it can upset the feeding of the banks with sand. i hadnt thought of it, but noe you point it out, i have seen it happen all over, why do we bother anyway, when banks + dunes have been around far longer than us and havent gone anywhere!! express this concern to the council

  • if dickoes is breakin like that, the swell is totally wrong for merry point, so the waves woulda been crap. merry point is always over rated anyway. why would ya bother when dikkos was like that a short stroll away. oh well, at least you had the sense to film it, makes up for not having nuts to surf it, now you will always have the footage of the waves you didnt surf...

    ..sucker.

maybe you are a kid, so thats ok..i guess

still, id prefer to have stoke memory than a video, and think wot if

  • Merewether & that whole main stretch has changed a lot, it used to break way better & the banks stayed around much longer but the dune regeneration project has stuffed all that up, the saltbush etc keeps the sand stable now & therefore theres a deep gutter along the shorleine almost always now. Pretty silly when u think about it because it made it more dangerous for swimmers/bathers. When the sand moved around, it was more natural & the beach was wider. Such a shame !

  • This is amazing.. i agree with viccosurfer in small conditions merewether is shit nd overrated.. i didnt know it was world class

  • Oh yer 5071v8, surfing merewether on your own you lil' toughy.

Too bad he forgot to mention that merewether wasnt breaking properly and was half the size of dicko, hence the northerly swell.

    sick day but

  • ah well my local is quite a fair way away from yours. im in victoria and i often like to surf around phillip island.. doing some express
