Decades after Mel Brooks filmed High Anxiety here, the glass elevators of San Francisco's Hyatt Regency are still a featured attraction in the hotel's beautiful atrium lobby; Heart of the City on MisterSF.com. http://www.mistersf.com/cinema/index.html?cinmain02.htm

  • It's too sad.

  • what a joint, talk about modren!

  • I loved riding up those elevators on mother/daughter dates to the Equinox. The menu was always duck ala orange (mom's fav) of course but that didn't matter even to a hungry little hippo like me! All that matter was a seat by the glass windows for the revolving view!!

Years later, I'd get to enjoy the one in Seattle, and the even more exciting revolving restaurant high atop of the Swiss Alps (Piz Gloria).

  • My mom used to take me into San Fran for mother/daughter dates to the HR and up to the Equinox (revolving restaurant at the top) for (usually-lol) duck ala orange.

For me then, it really didn't matter what we were going to eat as long as I had a seat with the best view out!

Later, I'd get to have the same rotating to scenery experience in Seattle (not nearly as beautiful) and Switzerland (Piz Gloria).

    Loved those elevators!!!!

  • This brings back wonderful memories of riding these elevators up to the Equinox with mom on a date with her in the 1970's. She usually ordered the duck ala orange-lol! I didn't mind as I was just thrilled to get to sit near the picture windows to get a look out at the spectacular view/sunset and revolving floor!!

Years later I'd get to experience the same in restaurant rotation in Seattle and Switzerland (Piz Gloria).

  • This brings back such great memories!

  • I have great memories of riding these elevators up to the Equinox restaurant on a mother/daughter date with mom in the 1970's. She always ordered the orange duck-lol! I didn't care as long I got to sit with an ability to look out at the view from this wonderful revolving restaurant!

Years later, I would be fortunate enough to have the same sensation in Switzerland at Piz Gloria!! Wonderful times and memories!!!!

  • It was really wonderful when mom and I would go on a "date" up to the Equinox (revolving restaurant) for orange duck! My favorite was riding the elevators (these) up to its revolving luxury!!

Funny thing was how very hippie my mom looked at the time-surprised they let us in-but it was the Bay Area! LOL.

  • I would have never thought that the elevators remained the same, which is really neat.

Thanks for posting this... High Anxiety is one of the best.
