Well just out Interest, which profession is cited as the worse then? Also do you have a theory on why psychiatrists are such bad offenders? Do they have less empathy? in some cult? or is it a simple case of them being just the same as the rest of society, except they're more likey to get away with it.

Being in a highly influential position in relations to your patients is another.

Sometimes dentists and medical doctors have sex with patients as well, however, you aren't expected to open yourself up emotionally to an MD or a dentists but you are expected to open up emotionally to psychologists or psychiatrists.

Another factor could be that people with mental health issues are just more vulnerable than people with bad teeth.

Psychologists and Psychiatrists are interested in understanding human behavior, and thought processes, among other topics. Therefore the first thing that comes to my mind is that most people get into these fields because of the power it would ultimately give them over others. Every day new disorders are being thought up so as to push more pills and who prescribes the pills... Why is anyone honestly surprised that so many psychologist and psychiatrists hurt people rather then help them?

Psych docs face the most sexual abuse charges because their pts have mental disorders just like trauma surgeons get sued because most of their pts end with 1 or 2 organs missing secondary to trauma... Please read about borderline personality disorder, Histrionic personality disorder, Dissociative disorders & of course Schizophrenia.

Why? It's easier to get away with in psychiatry than in any other medical field. Think about it. Most people who go to therapy are BEHIND CLOSED DOORS for about an hour once a week, if not more. Sometimes, you can get "mobile therapists" who can come to your home and give you "therapy" there.

Also, in order to see these people, something has to be "wrong" with you--so, if you're a nutter (according to them), why should we believe you? You can also be made to get therapy against your will.

I have received many hate full messages. I don't spend much time twitting or surfing. I am just appalled at the mean spirited angry people here. I know many people hate psychiatrists but I never realized it was this bad. Maybe I should make ENT my specialty- ( sarcasm )
